Galle Day Tour
Experience the sun, sand, and water in South Sri Lanka
Galle, located 116 km from Colombo, is the most renowned city situated at the tip of the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. The Galle Fortress, constructed by the Dutch in 1663, resembles the Old Town World Heritage Site. Along the coastal area, there are numerous beautiful beaches in each town that you come across during your day trip to Galle. The Galle Fort, originally built by the Portuguese and fortified later by the Dutch, is still exceptionally well-preserved.
Apart from the Portuguese and Dutch buildings, you will also discover many renovated British mansions. Concerning the beaches, Unawatuna Bay is probably the finest and safest spot for snorkeling and swimming, as it is guarded by an offshore reef. In case of a delay in your departure or return journey, you can make use of the Southern Expressway, a recently constructed highway that will take you to Galle in half the time.
